Between ignorance and cowardice

Between ignorance and cowardice

Allegedly Bill Clinton disarmed U.S. soldiers on military bases by commanding they not be allowed to possess and/or carry personal firearms on base. This happened in 1993.
.
Department of Defense Directive 5210.56 — Army Regulation 190-14, dated 12 March 1993 — permits the Secretary of the Army to authorize military personnel to carry firearms “on a case by case basis” for personal protection within the continental United States, but forbids military personnel to carry their own personal firearms. The regulation requires “a credible and specific threat” before firearms may be issued for military personnel to protect themselves. It further directs that firearms “not be issued indiscriminately for that purpose.” (Washington Times-2009) The goal was to prevent violence on bases by securing all military weapons and only issuing them in the case of attack or properly designated military operations and removing personal weapons to avoid incidental violence.
.

This would hope to prevent the obvious crimes of workplace violence (Yeah right! Check the Fort Hood Massacre!), domestic violence and other such crimes on base. Unfortunately it potentially presents and readies unarmed victims to be ravaged by people not really giving a damn about what Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and the current guy holding the office think. The violent whack-jobs will prevail and the lambs will still be readied for slaughter.
.

Because of this another whack-job has gotten hold of a firearm and entered a believed to be “safe zone” in order to commit a mass murder. The Washington Navy Yard is supposed to be a high security area where employees are monitored and visitation is restricted. Cars are supposed to be searched before entry on base. Unfortunately, during times of high traffic entry (start of shift etc.) auxiliary entry sites were alleged to be opened and access was granted with a “card swipe”. The shooter allegedly had another person’s access card. Convenience superseded security.
.
Diane Feinstein immediately jumped on the gun-control issue because one of the incompetents at CNN said Aaron Alexis was carrying an “AR-15 shotgun”. AR-15 Shotgun? I want one. Trouble is the thing doesn’t exist but that never stopped Feinstein and her slavish sycophants seeking to assure that they alone may have the ability to protect themselves by paying for bodyguards and police entities. You and I must wait for the police to arrive. Until the point of arrival Eric Holder says you must “retreat” until help arrives.
It’s difficult to retreat when held at gunpoint/knifepoint or are pinned against a building and you’re being demanded to fork over your valuables. Idiots like Holder who’ve suffered no more than an elbow to the ribs in a basketball game with his lord and master has no personal understanding of what it feels like or means to be a victim of a violent act: or your desire to PREVENT another such act. Holder and his bosses sit in their ivory towers pontificating and waxing philosophical about halting workplace violence, drug related violence, domestic violence while not understanding the dangers of the operative element: violence.
.
Mahatma Gandhi wasn’t the totally submissive pacifist he was advertised to have been. Gandhi directly advocated the use of violence in the defense of the innocent. Gandhi wrote: “I do believe that where there is only a choice between cowardice and violence I would advise violence.” Gandhi continued in his famous work, Doctrine of the Sword: “…When my eldest son asked me what he should have done, had he been present when I was almost fatally assaulted in 1908, whether he should have run away and seen me killed or whether he should have used his physical force which he could and wanted to use, and defended me, I told him that it was his duty to defend me even by using violence”.
.
Gandhi went further in his treatise: Between Cowardice And Violence: “…He who cannot protect himself or his nearest and dearest or their honour by non-violently facing death may and ought to do so by violently dealing with the oppressor. He who can do neither of the two is a burden. He has no business to be the head of a family. He must either hide himself, or must rest content to live forever in helplessness and be prepared to crawl like a worm at the bidding of a bully …[When violence] is offered in self-defence or for the defense of the defenceless, it is an act of bravery far better than cowardly submission. … A man who, when faced by danger, behaves like a mouse, is rightly called a coward.”
.
“Self-defence … is the only honourable course”.
.
It’s interesting the people telling us we must disarm are those least capable of defending us either from their ignorance or their cowardice.
